EPS Integrated

Scope & Sequence

Literacy and Social Studies

The purpose of the EPS Integrated Scope & Sequence is to provide a relevant scope that captures the breadth of curriculum to support PLC work and a sequence to foster alignment within the district.

For the transition year of 2018-2019, as we examine new resources to enhance teaching and learning, analyze the parameters of integrating curricular resources and expect changes in state standards for social studies, adjustments may be necessary. The Curriculum and Instruction team will be working throughout the year to revise the current document for the 2019-2020 school year. In an effort to gather teacher input for future iterations, this form will support the revision.

For the current school year, the EPS integrated scope and sequence will be used as the anchor document by grade level teams in collaboration with instructional coaches and principals. It is recognized that minimal changes may be necessary for the current school year, but alignment for equitable student access across the system is the priority.

Since the previous integrated model presented issues with science coherence, a separate science sequence for the STEMscopes Bundles (units) has been developed for 2018-2019 for each grade level. As communicated in the spring of 2018, science instruction will be guided by the scope and sequence found here. With reading resources being piloted this year in Elementary, integration between STEMscopes and ELA will be revisited in the future.
