Congratulations York Explorers!
On April 12th, York Elementary School received the Evergreen Attendance Award Trophy for winning the districtwide March Madness Attendance Challenge! Superintendent Dr. Christine Moloney was on hand to congratulate the students and staff at the all-school assembly. This first time event was a huge success as schools all over the district emphasized the importance of "showing up" to school.
The Jason Thomas Kaipo Moe Memorial Scholarship
Congratulations to Evergreen High School's Kai Speer who was awarded the Jason Thomas Kaipo Moe Memorial Scholarship. Jason's mother, Lori Strohl, came to Evergreen to surprise Kai who celebrated with his teammates. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating EHS basketball player who is continuing their education at a college or trade school. The scholarship is given in honor of Jason Moe, an EHS graduate and former basketball player, who passed away in 2012. Kai is planning on attending and playing basketball at George Fox University.
Cascadia Tech Academy Plant a Moon Tree!
Students from Cascadia Tech Academy's Forest Management program planted an Artemis/Moon tree. This Douglas Fir tree's seeds actually orbited the moon during the NASA's Artemis I mission.
The Union High School Theatre Players put on on four public performances that started on March 27, 2026. They also put on nine matinees for visiting EPS elementary school students.
Timber Joey, official mascot for the Portland Timbers, visited Fircrest Elementary School to present the "Staring XI" award to students who demonstrated good behavior and academic success.
Timberwolves put on a spectacular display during their Multicural Assembly.

Reptile Man returned to EPS, this time delighting and educating Huskies about the fascinating world of reptiles.
ESD 112 is proud to announce the winners of the 2026 Southwest Washington Regional High School Art Show, highlighting the creativity and talent of student artists across the region. This annual event highlights the powerful role of arts education in fostering student voice, innovation, and expression. "Our students continue to inspire us with their creativity and the thoughtfulness behind their work, "said ESD 112 Superintendent Tim Merlino. "It's an honor to help create opportunities where their voices can be seen and heard." Winners of the Regional Awards will advance to the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) Art Show, now in its 53rd year. The statewide event will be livestreamed from OSPI in Olympia on May 19, 2026, from 3-5pm.
Regional Awards - These pieces received the highest scores from judges and will represent Southwest Washington at the state level.

Valeria also received the Central Washington University Scholarship Award - The department of Art + Design at Central Washington University awarded $2,000 scholarship towards future enrollment.

ESD 112 Awards - These pieces were recognized for excellence in creativity, composition, and technique, aligned with Washington Sate Arts k-12 Learning Standards.
Honorable Mentions - These pieces were also rated very highly by the judges.
