I come from a military family. My father was in the Army, and my step-father was in the Navy. I moved to Bangkok, Thailand when I was three, and learned Thai while living there. Although I forgot the language when we returned to the States, I've always wanted to be hypnotized to see if it's still somewhere in my brain! I attended many different schools, including Kindergarten in Thailand (where I was the only American child), and seven schools districts in Maryland, New Jersey and New York.
I graduated from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York in 1984. I taught middle and high school in New York for four years, then moved to Brazil where I lived for eighteen months. That's where I met my husband, and learned to speak my version of Portuguese. When we returned to the United States, I worked in group homes for autistic adults.
In 1992, I came to teach First Grade in Eastampton Township. I discovered that little kids are so much fun! After eighteen years in First Grade, I moved to Third Grade. I've been enjoying third graders ever since!
Here are some pictures of my family and me today,
and some from when I was growing up.
