Collapsing Sun
Katherine Anderton
I remember when she was the sun
Golden rays eclipsed her face
Stainless majesty she reigned
Her kingdom the sky
Until the night darkened
Clouding her shimmer
Enveloping her in mist
Spluttering she was extinguished
A burning star she collapsed
Fiery fury catapulting towards the earth
A trail of smoke wisping behind her
I saw her sunshine die
Held her lifeless light in my arms
And buried her beneath the flowers
Beside the river that never ran dry
All that stays is the shell of a face
That once held golden rays
I am all that remains
