My name is Ms. Shulman. I have been teaching for over 20 years, and I have been at ETHS since 2013. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English and Hebrew from The University of Wisconsin-Madison, and two Master's degrees: one in Education from Loyola University Chicago, and the other in English and Hebrew Literature from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem. I lived in Jerusalem for several years when I was in graduate school. I was fortunate to conduct grant-sponsored research into nonviolent organizations the last time I was there. I've also received grants from the National Endowment of the Humanities to study in Mississippi, Florida, and Atlanta. In addition to teaching at ETHS, I teach future teachers in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. One of the courses I teach is about Peace Education. I also teach future English teachers, and another is co-taught with ETHS's Superintendent, Dr. Campbell. I am also a writer. My writing has appeared in Slate, Newsweek, The Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune, Witness, and Identity Theory, among others. Recent publications of mine can be read here and here.
