Varsity Assistant
Varsity Assistant Coach Dantea Johnson is entering his seventh season at Evanston Township High School, as an assistant coach. During his tenure, Johnson was instrumental in propelling the Wildkits to impressive records, including two 30-win seasons and four 20-win seasons. Under his leadership, the team captured four regional championships, three sectional championships, three super-sectional championships, and four CSL conference championships. This past season, serving as the offensive coordinator, he led a high-powered offense that became the third highest-scoring team in Evanston history, with 2,370 points and an average of 64.1 PPG. They also set records with the most three-point field goals in a season (328) and the most assists in a season (565). Johnson's strategic guidance helped the team achieve a remarkable State 3rd Place finish with a 31-6 record, marking the first-ever back-to-back IHSA State Finals appearances in the school's history. Notably, he contributed to the program's State Runner-Up finish in 2019 and State 3rd Place finish in 2018.
A 2018 graduate of ETHS, Johnson pursued his passion for communication and sports at Loyola University, earning a degree in Public Relations with a double minor in Economics and Political Science. While at Loyola, he worked closely with the men's basketball team under head coaches Porter Moser and Drew Valentine, gaining valuable experience in various roles.
