Each year, ETHS freshmen receive one of the newest Chromebook models. Currently, ETHS students have the following models:
Class of 2027 - Acer C736T
Class of 2026 - Acer C734T
Class of 2025 - Acer C733T
Class of 2024 - Acer C871
Out of the box, each new Chromebook comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty that covers defects in manufacturing. This does not cover damage inflicted on the device by accident or other issues deemed to be the fault of the user.
To protect devices from accidental damage for one year or longer, ETHS partners with Technology Resources Advisors to offer an extended warranty. To learn more about extended warranty options and to pay online, please visit the school web store. Please note, the extended warranty only covers damage that happens after the extended warranty is purchased.
Any damage or other technical issue that is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty or extended warranty will be billed through the ChromeZone for the price of the part or the price of a refurbished device. For more information, contact the ChromeZone at chromesupport@eths202.org.
If you are experiencing issues with your Chromebook, you may be able to do some basic troubleshooting from home by following these procedures:
Reset the Chromebook by conducting a Powerwash.
Check your internet connection to make sure you have enough bandwidth for video calls. One simple way to do this is to type "Speed Test" into Google and use their built-in speed test. It will tell you how fast your connection is.
If you are experiencing camera issues, test your camera online at webcamera.io to see if the issue is your program (Zoom, Meet) or your camera.
If you are experiencing microphone issues, test your mic online at vocaroo.com to see if the issue is your program (Zoom, Meet) or your mic. You may also choose to plug in separate headphones with a microphone to see if that works.
If you are having issues with your password, visit the ETHS Password portal to reset your password using security questions you set up. If you do not have security questions, contact chromesupport@eths202.org.
If you need additional support, contact the ETHS ChromeZone at chromesupport@eths202.org. Include as much information as possible including any troubleshooting steps you've tried. Consider including a screenshot and/or using Screencastify if possible to record a screencast of the issue you are experiencing.
To work effectively, Chromebooks need to access the internet. There are some limited offline capabilities that we recommend activating; however, ultimately students will need to access the internet to join video calls. ETHS has a limited number of wifi hotspots available for students and families without reliable access to the internet. More information can be found on our website here.
