There is no carry over in a given tax year to the next. All money in your Flexible Spending Account must be used before December 31st. ETHS does offer a grace period, which extends your plan year by 2 months and 15 days. This allows you a total of 14 1/2 months to use your FSA contributions. With the grace period, you can use your FSA funds for eligible expenses you incur from the very beginning of the plan year through the entire grace period. Please review the Summary Plan Description for more information.
If you are terminated mid-year, you can no longer incur expenses for reimbursement from your FSA. All claims must be submitted for expenses prior to the date of termination.
Take a look at how the tax savings could potentially work out in real life. By aniticipating your family's expenses for the year and setting aside money in your fSA to cover them, you can actually lower your taxable income and increase your take home pay.
Enrollment Guide Provides information on how to enroll. ETHS will be automatically enrolling you if you elect the FSA on the online enrollment form. Once your enrollment is processed, we recommend following the instructions on setting up an account online with EBC. You can track your expenses, your balances, and set up direct deposit.
Enrollment form may need to be completed and returned to HR if you are a new hire and not enrolling at open enrollment. We will then process your enrollment with EBC.
It is up to you to know what you can and cannot spend your FSA Health account money on. Please review examples of eligible expenses here. For a complete list, please visit ebcflex.com
