This elective is open to 11th-12th grade students.
Description: Beginning Journalism places
an emphasis on critical thinking, research,
ethics, communication, and the structure
and craft of different styles of journalistic
writing. Students read and write on a daily
basis, and through a variety of mediums.
Students integrate theoretical studies with
modern and practical applications
throughout the course. They use
technology and digital media to enhance
and extend their understanding and
creations, and to listen to and reach a
broader population. This is not a
production class. (The school
newspaper is a separate club.) This
course satisfies 1 year of the East Side
Union High School District's English
elective credit requirement. This course
satisfies the UC and CSU "g" requirement.
