Thank you to all the staff who came out and played their hearts out against the students on Friday’s student vs. staff kickball game! Shout out to Adams, Ghali, Gubuan, Ortiz, Ramirez, Rosiles, Singh, and Wu! We unfortunately lost and are ending the student vs. staff series 1-3, but we’ll get them again in the fall with volleyball!
This Friday is our fourth and final food fair! If your club is interested in selling, you have until tomorrow to get your paperwork in to Ms. Garcia in the bank! We will have the menu and more information posted on our instagram on Wednesday. Hope to see you all there!
Next Monday, April 14th, the Leo Club, led by Mr. Paquiz, will be hosting a blood drive from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the dance studio. ASB will be supporting by giving out a pint of ice cream for all those that donate their pint of blood. Students signed up should have an email confirmation regarding their appointment times, and they will be returning with a pass. Please reach out to either Paquiz or me if you have any questions of if you or your students (16 and older) are interested in donating blood.
Calling all club advisors — Club Awards will be on May 1 from 4:00 to 6:00 in the Hub. Please check your emails to see your invitation to nominate your members form this school year.
One final special shout out to JLHS’s very own Folklorico Club for performing at Independence Noche Latina.

Thank you to everyone involved for making our fourth annual Night Market & Carnival super safe and successful! Thank you to Baldock, Ghatak, Harrington, Kawayoshi, Leipham, Macias, Martin, Nate, Portillo, Rosiles, admin, and all those who stopped by to check out the markets It was a whirlwind planning this community event with my ASB & leadership students these last few months, but very worth it!

Our annual 4th Annual Night Market & Carnival is this Friday, March 28th! Please come out and support one of our largest events of the school year! We will have food trucks, vendors, club performances, inflatables, games, and so much more!

The third student vs. staff game was so much fun, despite our staff losing 4-1! Thank you to all of the teachers and staff for showing up to support, and special shout outs to Adams, Chavez, Lopez, Ortiz, Portillo, Ramirez, Rosiles, Singh for their hard work on the field! We will be playing kickball in April, so stay tuned!!

This upcoming week is our Winter Rally and spirit week. Please show support for our ASB & winter athletes and dress out and encourage your students to dress out as well!
Monday - Holiday Pajamas: come to school in your most comfiest holiday pajamas!
Tuesday - Tree Topper Tuesday: wear your favorite holiday themed head gear such as santa hats, reindeer antlers, or elf hats!
Wednesday - Winter Wonderland Wednesday: come in your all white winter wear or dress up like a snowman with your beanie, scarf, and mittens
Thursday - Santa vs. Grinch: which holiday team are you on? Wear red and santa gear or green and grinch gear!
Friday - Class Holiday Movies: come dressed in the class themes for our rally — Freshmen are How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Sophomores are Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer, Juniors are Nightmare Before Christmas, and Seniors are a Charlie Brown Christmas
ASB is hosting a Dunkin’ Donuts truck in the quad this Wednesday during lunch! Swing by for some free refreshments and a $5 Dunkin’ gift card! And please encourage your students to come by for a sweet pre-finals treat!
IMPORTANT: The last day to turn in any RPOs for reimbursements for the semester is this Friday because the last ASB meeting of the semester is on Tuesday, December 17th! Thank you!

Thank you to all the club advisors for supporting their club officers with last Friday’s food fair! There was a great turn out from students and teachers, and food fair is always a wonderful way to support the wonderful clubs and sports on our campus! The next food fair will be at the end of January!
ASB is hosting a TURKEY TROT during lunch this Friday, where students and staff can race to be the winner of a two lap course around campus. First place will win an entire turkey, second place will win an entire pie, and third place will win a slice of pie! The map will be posted on our instagram sometime this week @jlhscomets! Come out and run or cheer on your fellow staff and students during lunch this Friday! 🦃🏃

Our 2nd annual Comet Haunted Fair will be happening THIS Wednesday from 5:30-8:30. Come out and support our leadership students who will be hosting games, crafts, treats, and a haunted house at the front of the school!

Within the span of 48 hours, my ASB students hosted or supporter a homecoming rally, a club tailgate fundraising at the homecoming football game, football & cheer senior night, alumni night, and the homecoming dance, so if you see any of our ASB officers and leadership students, please congratulate them for a job well done!

Lots of things happening this week with spirit week, lunchtime activities and giveaways, girls volleyball senior night on Thursday, Friday’s homecoming rally, cheer and football senior night, homecoming football game and tailgate, and finally, our homecoming dance on Saturday in the Hub!

Our first home game of the football season is happening THIS Thursday against Mt. Pleasant and we’re bringing back the Battle of White Road! The theme is WHITE OUT! Come out and cheer on our football team — ASB will be providing snacks & refreshments in appreciation for our staff who show up and support!
ASB will be giving away two tickets to the Japanese Kpop group XG at the football game, so please encourage your students to attend.
A HUGE shout out to all the staff who played and supported our first student vs. staff volleyball game that led us to a big W against the students!! Thank you Baldock, Chavez, Kawayoshi, Lopez, Singh, and Wu for being the best teammates, Romero for being a great sideline cheerleader, and Shiraki and the PE department for supporting our James Lick traditions! See you in November for basketball!

Teachers can sign up to participate for supervision hours via Signup.com since playing takes up your lunch period! Welcome back, Comets!
14 of our ASB & Leadership students proudly represented James Lick at a 3 day overnight ESUHSD Leadership Camp at Santa Clara University from July 23 to July 25th. They learned a lot of valuable leadership skills, met a ton of student leaders from the district, and are super energized to lead our campus spirit and engagement this school year!
We are in need of teacher advisors for student clubs for the 2024-2025 school year! If you are interested in supporting our student organizations, please reach out. Otherwise, I will be sending out an email regarding teacher supervision and clubs in need of advisors in the next coming days.
