Summer Honors Product Description

Where a bowl of Barbie dolls in the teacher’s lounge isn’t strange.

Where “Taps” is played for dead fish with a green trumpet.

Where spelling things incorrectly is only embarrassing when it’s written on the board.

Where at 11:42am the floor becomes lava and singing “Just a Friend” by Biz Markie saves us all.

Opening night

Opening night gets 4 stars,

Because it’s never boring,

There’s delicious food,

And you meet wonderful people.

Architecture

Architecture gets a three as it is basically math

But designing roller coasters is really a blast

Angles and shapes are a common recurrence

But buildings and sculptures are a future reassurance

Quiz Bowl

My second review was for quiz bowl night,

The event was.. Well, it was alright.

I have a suspicion the teachers rigged it to win.

For that, I give only one star to them.

Art Class

Bucket hats and strawberry tan lines: the art class leaves their

Mark as they protest the sun. Putting love into thin gray lines

Hoping others will see the beauty and truth they’ve left behind only

one star burned off by the heat this 4-star class can hardly be beat.

The Poetry Slam

Wednesday’s Slam Night is a five star event,

and not just because we hosted

Between the lines of serious prose and comical sketches

Yukon watches to bestow one with his cherry coke crown.

Computer Science

All I wanted from Computer Science class is to make some fun Games

But now I’m screwing everything in this dark room everyone calls the cave?

But I’m making new friends, they’ve shown me my skills aren't too bad.

Now they're asking me to play Minecraft? I didn't know we were allowed to do that

This big family of tech nerds isn't so bad at all. 5 Stars!

Talent Show

For the Talent Show, you get only 2 stars,

sorry, but it’s kinda boring watching someone play Talor Swift song on a guitar.

From the Michel Jackson wannabes to the public burn competition, to do it, no one even has to audition.

While everyone is indeed talented in their own way,

I don’t think anyone wants to watch someone impersonate a blue jay.

This is all completely a joke, for the talent show can bring people from all classes together, it is an activity I think we all wish would last forever.

Creative Writing

To the Creative Writing class, I give you 3.5 stars,

often found just sitting around, or writing memoirs.

Even though you all might be slightly chaotic,

the class contains a variety of people who are quite exotic.

From all the poets to the fiction writers,

they commonly are known to sometimes pull all-nighters.

They’re the reason SHP and the other classes have the Poetry Slam, if you walk in on their class at 11:42, you might see them dancing to their jam.

YMCA Night

On the day we go to the YMCA

You are just going to want to stay

There will be hotdogs and burgers

You will want to stretch your stomach much further

But don’t eat too much

Because to do everything is a crunch

There will be swimming and other games

But always make sure to beat James.

I’d give this night 3 stars

Only because we have lowered the bar

We used to party at the lake

But I guess now our lives aren’t at stake

Drama

Whether tragedy or comedy, we’ve seen them build

A play out of nothing, in only a week

But, alas, we mourn this poor class’s fall

So 4 stars is the best Drama can get

Game Night

At game night you hope to win,

If you lose you might feel quite dim.

Whether it’s volleyball or basketball,

It might help if you are tall.

I’d give this night 4.5 stars

Only because we have to drive our cars

To get to the elementary school

Because the gym here is quite cruel.

Film

The lights brighten and the clapperboard sound breaks the silence.

When the sea of tapes roll like waves to an endless ocean of creativity.

Hours of footage sequenced to perfection, waiting to slide into the editor's mold.

3.5 out of 5 stars, too much paparazzi and too many cameras.

Small Groups

1 star I wanted to go to Mcdonalds

But now my lunch break must end.

As much as I hate socializing

At least I have made new friends

Logic

Talk is all they do,

So they get a 2 star rate,

For always talking,

And being late.

Banquet

Mascots are passed from one to another

Films are presented to us as we eat

And we all dress up fancy for once in our lives

So 5 stars seems fitting for a banquet this great

Math

The sock monkey with a snatched waist

Sir Chauncey and Dr. Polygon’s posse

A three-star class, two chased away by tears

I have to be talking about stress-filled math class

Dance

After the banquet we went to get ready

To end the night with a big dance party

We headed to the Tassel to get our groove on

Five stars with music and friends it was so much fun

Medical Science

Never to be seenUnless you become hospitalized See a friend You shouldn’t be surprised

They are in Med Sci Learning cool things Dressing up nicely For all the old ladies

Med sci gets a 4 Because they are so cool Hanging with the grandmas While you are in a school

Maude’s Birthday

The second Wednesday Don’t dare to miss it It’s Maude’s birthday

Cake and celebrations Celebrate Maude She will be sad If you don’t come along

Sing happy birthday Eat a piece of cake Celebrating Maude Is the best way

So Maude gets 5 stars Because her birthday is the main attraction At summer honors

Office Interns

They get a 2/5

Because sometimes we barely know they are alive

We don’t really know what they do

But we know without them summer honors wouldn’t be a hoot

Psychology

In summer honors, minds entwine;

Psychology class, thoughts resign.

Exploring depths of the human mind,

Four stars shine on this learning find.

Yukon’s Birthday

20 years sometime this day

Happy Birthday Yukon our bae

He’s a 5/5 with dark black eyes and the beard of an old man

Creative writing people are his biggest fans

Mascots

Gnomes, Octopi, 2x4s, and Monkeys,

Mascots are the spirit of the SHP.

Each has its own tale of years past with history and lore.

Yukon is a 5 out of 5, the rest are a solid 4.

Graduation

Half a star

Because zero isn’t an option

The fun is done and now we must leave

But at least you get to hear our sick poem
