Notice (Only if you as DTC received an email)
As part of the USDE process, TEA has analyzed STAAR Alternate 2 state-level and LEA-level participation data from the 2022–2023 school year. Based on this analysis, your LEA assessed more than 1.0 percent of its students with STAAR Alternate 2.
* You are not required to review every focal group for every test. If you have extremely low numbers of students (less than five) that result in high percentages, you can skip that entry in the disproportionality calculation.
* This may be the case for some very small districts (less than 1,300 students) for all focal groups. If that is the case, you should select “No” for question 10 and mark "N/A" for questions 11 and 12.
The STAAR Alternate 2 Justifications and Assurances Form must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. (CT) Monday, November 25, 2024. The district testing coordinator or special education director must complete this form by:
1) providing the requested LEA contact information,
2) entering the number of students who were assessed with STAAR Alternate 2 in spring 2024 by primary disability code,
3) providing an explanation of the circumstances that necessitate your LEA assess more than 1.0 percent of its students with STAAR Alternate 2,
4) determining whether there is disproportionality found in the STAAR Alternate 2 participation data of your LEA,
5) responding to each assurance statement, and
6) clicking the SEND button; upon clicking the SEND button, a confirmation message will appear.
The district testing coordinator or special education director should complete this form by Monday, Nov 25, 2024.
