Integrated Education and Training (IET) is defined in WIOA Section 203(11) as a service approach that provides adult education and literacy activities concurrently and contextually with workforce preparation activities and workforce training for a specific occupation or occupational cluster for the purpose of educational and career advancement. According to the definition, each IET course will have three components which the student will complete:

  • Specific adult education content (ESL, High School Equivalency, Workplace Activities)

  • Workforce preparation activities (Basic Academic skills, Digital Literacy)

  • Workforce training competencies (Occupational Skill Training)

The Region 9 Adult Education & Literacy Career Pathway program is an academic support program for students training in one of our designated career pathway fields for in-demand careers. It organizes education, training, and other services to meet the particular needs of an individual in a manner that accelerates their education and career advancement.

Career Pathways allows students to be concurrently enrolled in a GED, ESL or academic support class while pursuing training for a workforce certification. Students who have already earned a high school diploma or GED are also eligible for this program. The program is a selective program, but once complete, students can be immediately employable.
