Highlighter in Google Docs
Students highlight on a web page using the R&W extension.
Students then click the "Collect Highlights" icon.
A Google Doc is created with all the highlights as well as a link to the original source webpage.

This Google Doc add-on (in Google Docs only) allows users to color-code specific ideas and export them into another document.
The screenshot below demonstrates how you can set the highlighter colors to mimic the colors available on STAAR Online.
Consider developing a key/system to note text features such as key ideas/major points, unfamiliar words/unclear information, key words and phrases, important information, and connections.

Do you want your students to mark the important parts?
Do you want your students to highlight key vocabulary?
Choose which annotations you’d like your students to utilize and set up a template.
Do you need to share the document with one student, a small group of students, or the whole class?
Will you use the Jamboard to model close reading? Or, will you use the Jamboard to allow students to practice directly with the text?
For modeling, you’ll change the share settings to “Viewer”. For student practice, you’ll change the share settings to “Editor”.
