Primary 6

August - September

Internet Safety

Primary 6/7 have been learning all about how they can be safe online. They have participated in many discussions about the dangers of being online and have been able to explain how they can make sure they stay safe online.

They have played games on a site called Interland which was created by Google for Education as a tool for teaching the principles of staying safe online. The class have really enjoyed these games and they are now more conscious of how they and others interact online, particularly when it comes to protecting personal information.

Clean Water

Primary 5/6 have been looking at the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particularly Global Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

They looked at the Global Goal and then created, in small groups an investigation that looked at finding the best materials for filtering dirty (sand) water.

The class worked in small groups to list the materials they would need, make a prediction of what type of paper would be the best for filtering the water and what their experiement would look like.

The class then carried out the experiment, which was a lot of fun and a little messy.

Finally, after looking at the results of their experiment, the class were able to create their own conclusions and present their findings to the class.
