Fall

• View High School Informational Workshop.

• Visit and explore high school websites.

• Create a personal list of High School Options.

• Attend the Equitas High School Fair.

• Complete the High School Informational Survey.

• Meet with Equitas High School Prep Team, especially if applying to private schools, before October 31st.

• Select and apply to at least three (3) high schools by October 31st.  In case you don't get a space at your preferred school, it is important to have options.

• Attend high school informational events, open houses and virtual tours.

• Private school applicants begin admission test tutoring.

Winter

• Attend high school informational events, open houses and virtual tours.

• Accept high school spots/offers. 

Ensure to always accept your spot. For example: if your 2nd or 3rd preference notifies you of an offer at their school first, accept their offer while you wait for your 1st preference. If your 1st preference later offers you a space, you can accept and change enrollment then. Do NOT decline an offer, if you do not have a spot secure in a school.

• Entrance Exams held for Private school applicants.

Spring

• Accept high school spots and complete final enrollment/registration in a high school. 

• Complete the High School Selection Survey to inform us what school your student is registered/enrolled to attend their 9th grade. 

• Contact Ms. Gomez at (909) 274-9562 for immediate assistance if you have NOT confirmed enrollment with a high school or no school offered you a spot by mid-March.

• After you have enrolled at a high school, watch the following family workshops: 

- Part 1: Successful Academic Transition to High School 

- Part 2: Successful Developmental Transition to High School 

Summer

• Join the Alumni family and visit the Equitas Alumni Webpage.

• Learn about how to graduate high school and qualify for college.

Spring & Summer

• • Explore the Equitas High School Hub.

  • Search high schools in your area.

  • Ask a relative, friends or teacher about their high school experience.

We seek to prepare every scholar who graduates from an Equitas Middle School to matriculate to a high quality high school where they will personally thrive and continue on the path to college.

To achieve this goal, the high school preparation program provides the following supports to middle school scholars and their families:

• Introduces scholars to area high schools through field trips and a high school fair.

• Facilitates one-on-one high school planning meetings and next steps. 

• Informs families on the high school selection process in order to find a strong fit for each scholar based on their academic history, interests, strengths, needs, and geographic preferences. Then, supports scholars and their family in the application process to these high schools.

• Facilitates family workshops on topics such as applying to charter, magnet and private high schools, applying for financial aid, choosing a school that is best for your child, and supporting your child in the transition to high school. 

• Builds partnership with area high schools. 

• Supports middle school scholars in building skills in the academic application process, including high school entrance exam preparation, personal statement writing, and interview skills.

Did you know that our 8th grade scholars receive 10 years of support after leaving Equitas? Our Alumni program continues working with Equitas alumni through high school to support scholars on their journey to graduating from a 4-year college or university.
