November 16, 2023 -- Equitas Academy Alumni Programs is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Commitment to Community Award.
Every year, Equitas Academy recognizes alumni scholars for their leadership and dedication to their school community and neighborhood. Awarded annually in December, the Equitas Academy Commitment to Community Award recognizes four alumni in high school grades 9-12. High school staff and community members nominate honorees every fall, and alumni are encouraged to share the nomination form with their teachers/counselors.
*Alumni: this award celebrates you & your accomplishments, and can be used for your resume & college applications! Check out this letter to send your teachers/counselor. All winners are recognized on the award plaque & alumni website, as well as receive a token of celebration in the mail. See all past winners here.
Alumni are nominated by teachers, counselors, staff or mentors at their school, or by a member of the community. All alumni who culminated from the 8th grade at Equitas Academy are eligible, and are selected by current Equitas Academy staff using the following criteria:
An alum who is engaged in community service, civic engagement, or social justice efforts in their community or school
An alum who is seen as leader and role model in their school community
Nominations of scholars whose efforts have directly impacted the Pico-Union community are especially encouraged. All nominations must be received by December 1, 2023.
