Audio and Video 15, 25, 35

(5 credits each)


Audio and Video is a program that focuses on songwriting, electronic music, recording, and live sound at the 15 level. Elements of the entertainment business are explored, such as band management, promotions and live radio. Students learn how to create their own music using computer programs and keyboards as well as live instruments and recording. In the 25 and 35 level courses, students will learn about video production. Students create exciting production projects with video, sound track recording, and editing.

Singing and Vocal Production 10, 20, 30

(5 credits each)


Singing & Vocal Production focuses on vocal skill development, ear training, basic music theory, performance, recording, and music production. You will learn basic piano skills, gain songwriting techniques, and learn the ability to produce your own music. Students enrolled in Singing & Vocal Production 10, 20, and 30 will participate in concerts, special events, festivals, music trips and so much more!

Drum Line (General Music Drum)

10, 20, 30

(5 credits each)


Drum line teaches students to read rhythms and play multiple percussion instruments. Classes will focus on traditional drum line techniques with snare, bass drum, tenor drums, and cymbals. Students will also learn some Latin percussion rhythms and drum set techniques. There are opportunities opportunities to perform and showcase your talent. Let’s start the grooves!

Instrumental Music 10, 20, 30

(5 credits each)


Prerequisite: Junior high band experience or training on piano for violin.

With teamwork, practice, and dedication, one band can create one sound! Instrumental Music 10 furthers the music skills you gained in junior high and adds theory, ear training, history/music appreciation and performance. You have the chance to perform at concerts, special events, festivals, and extracurricular activities. Band trips create amazing memories during high school!

Guitar 10, 20, 30

(5 credits each)


Guitar is a course offered to everyone, whether you’ve never picked up a guitar or you’ve been playing for years! Learn to play your favourite songs, read music, jam with other people, and even write some songs of your own.

Instrumental Jazz 15, 25, 35

(5 credits each)


Prerequisite: Junior high band experience or training on piano or violin.

Through the exploration of jazz music, students gain insight into the creative world of improvising and performing within traditional jazz styles. Students learn a variety of pieces ranging from pop, to Latin, to traditional jazz. Several pieces will include a vocalist also! The typical instruments in jazz band are wind instruments, piano, guitar, bass, and percussion. These exciting courses will give you the foundation to pursue post-secondary jazz studies or a career in the music industry. The Jazz Band will rehearse twice a week after school.
