What to expect from the Drama program

Drama 10, 20, 30

(5 credits each)


You will learn the skills needed in the performance of: stage combat, improvisation, speech, theatre studies, technical theatre and acting. Students intending to continue to Drama 20 and 30 are strongly encouraged to take Drama 10 for 5 credits. There are also International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme sections of this course. Drama 10 IB is a 5-credit course. Students that cannot fit Drama 10 IB into their schedule may be able to enroll in an after-school section of the course that meets with Advanced Acting 15 class.

Advanced Acting 15, 25, 35

(5 credits each)


Prerequisite: Concurrently enrolled in Drama 10 or instructor permission. 

Advanced Acting 15 students join with Advanced Acting 25 and 35 students to form an ensemble. Advanced Acting 15 is designed to the Grade 10 student keen to perform in productions to enrich their class work. The main stage production takes place in early December and M.E. LaZerte’s One Act Play Festival in early April. The rehearsals and classes run Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 P.M.

Musical Theatre 15, 25, 35

(5 credits each)


Recommendation: Co-registration in choir or dance or instructor permission. 

These classes are for students at all grade levels – whether you’re a novice or experienced – focusing on singing, dancing and acting in the musical theatre genre. The courses will emphasize rehearsal discipline, risk-taking, and working together to perform a Broadway musical in the theatre.
