The National Junior Honor Society consists of students that excel in the following areas: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, Citizenship, and Service.
Scholarship: The student makes a commitment to learning. A student dedicates their time to expand their knowledge. They strive to achieve academic excellence in all of their classes.
Character: The student is trustworth; possess integrity; takes criticism willingly and accepts recommendations graciously; upholds principles of morality and ethics; demonstrates the highest standards of honesty and integrity; shows courtesy, concern and respect for others; obeys school rules, doesn't cheat on assignments; does not profit or benefit from the mistakes of others; refrains from gossip, demeaning, and teasing.
Leadership: The student demonstrates resourceful problem-solving, promotes school activities, and contributes ideas. The student makes independent positive choices and guides others to do the same.
Citizenship: The student has an attitude of obligation to the group's greater good. The student desires to contribute to a positive culture and to make a positive difference in the world. The student has a high regard for freedom, justice, and democracy.
Service: The student has a willingness to help others; work well with others; is willing to take on difficult responsibilities; and shows courtesy by assisting visitors, teachers, and students. The student is involved in volunteering at school and/or outside of school.
