STORYTELLING PERFORMANCE COMPETITION
RULES AND GUIDELINES
INTRODUCTION
In conjuction with the English Language and Literature Carnival which will be carried out from 13 to 15 September 2023, IPGKBA is proud to announce the Storytelling Performance competition which is open to all primary schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
OBJECTIVES
To enhance pupils’ confidence in using English.
To motivate and encourage pupils to speak in front of an audience.
To enable pupils to use their creativity in presenting their stories.
ELIGIBILITY
This competition is open to all primary school pupils in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (Individual - Private, Public & International) from Years 1 to 6.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Each school can be represented by up to 3 pupils for the competition (individual category).
There will be two rounds to the competition. In the first round (via video recording), contestants are to observe the following rules:
Each pupil is required to video record their storytelling in about 6 to 7 minutes.
The selected stories must not touch on sensitive issues such as race, religion, stereotyping and politics.
The the theme of the stories must be educational.
The storytelling session should not include props, backdrops and sound effects.

13 July - 14 August 2023
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Video record your storytelling performance. Upload the video to YouTube to generate a link.
Submit the YouTube link through the entry form below.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Submit your competition entry forms by 4.30 p.m., Monday, 14 August 2023.
JUDGING
The judges will award points based on language proficiency, theme, presentation and costume.
The contestant with the majority of marks will be declared the winner. Individual marks will not be disclosed.
Successful contestants for the final round will be notified two weeks after the closing date.
The judges' decision is final, and no appeals will be considered.
FINALISTS
Six finalists will be selected from the entries. The six finalists will participate in the final IN-PERSON round of competition to select the three winners.
Finalists will be informed on Wednesday 30 August 2023 via the website. Watch this space!
The final round of the competition will be held at:

Date: Wednesday, 13 September 2023
Time: 9.00 a.m. - 12.30 noon.
Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners when the competition ends on Wednesday, 13 September 2023.
Certificates will be awarded to the finalists.
CERTIFICATES OF PARTICIPATION
All participants will receive a certificate of participation to be sent to the email address indicated in the competition’s entry form.
