SKIT COMPETITION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS & RULES
Welcome to the ELite Carnival's Skit Competition page.
The objective of the skit competition is to enhance the creative expression of students through drama in the English language.
PARTICIPANT CATEGORIES
Entry is open to all IPGK, IPTA & IPTS students.
Participation in a group must not exceed a maximum of SIX (6) members per team.
CONTENT
All entries must be original works by participants.
The skit should not touch on sensitive issues pertaining to race, religion or politics.
USE OF LANGUAGE
The skit must be in English.
Skits that use put-downs, insensitive remarks, profanity and inappropriate language or actions will be disqualified.
DURATION
The recording of the skit should not exceed FIFTEEN (15) minutes.
Shortlisted teams will be allowed a maximum of 2 minutes to prepare the stage and 15 minutes to perform during the finals to be held in-person at IPGKBA.
PROPS, COSTUMES AND STAGECRAFT
Participants are required to dress modestly during the performance.
Participants are required to prepare their own costumes, props, makeup, sound effects, music accompaniment and lighting.
For the selected finalists, these will be arranged by the teams themselves while general furniture like table/chairs will be made available at the event venue.
SUBMITTED ENTRIES
All entries and materials submitted are copyright of the organizers and will not be returned to the participants.
The organiser reserves the rights to reject incomplete submissions, or submissions that may be considered inappropriate.
SUBMISSION OF VIDEO
Participants are to video record their skit, upload the video to YouTube to generate a link and submit the link of their recording through the entry form below. The selection for shortlisted finalists is based on the submitted video recording.
FINAL SUBMISSION DATE
Skit entries must be submitted through the Google Form below by 4:30pm on 14 August 2023. Late submissions will not qualify for the competition.
Selected finalists will be identified at least 2 weeks before the closing ceremony.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Entries will be assessed by an independent panel of judges based on the following judging criteria:
Originality of script / skit
Creativity and Theatrical quality (creative use of props & stagecrafts)
Overall performance (facial expressions, voice modulation, stage mannerism and entertainment value)
Teamwork (if involves more than one member - coordination, etc)
Final ratings shall be decided by aggregating points awarded by a panel of judges.
In case of any dispute, the decision of the organizers of the event shall be final and conclusive and no appeal will be entertained.
COMPETITION DURATION
13 July - 21 August 2023 (You may submit your video links through the entry form anytime between these dates)
FINALISTS
Four finalists will be selected from the entries. The four finalists will participate in the final IN-PERSON round of competition to select the three winners.
Finalists will be informed on Wednesday 30 August 2023 via our website. Watch this space!
The organiser shall not bear the cost of accommodation or transportation or any expenses for this purpose. Participants are responsible for all logistics and accommodation arrangements. All expenses are non-reimbursable.
The shortlisted top-four finalists must attend and perform their skits live during the final round of the competition that will be held at:

REVISED Time: 8.30 - 11.30 a.m
Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners when the competition ends on Wednesday, 13 September 2023.
Certificates will be awarded to the finalists.
CERTIFICATES OF PARTICIPATION
All participants will receive a certificate of participation to be sent to the email address indicated in the competition entry form.
