ELT LEARNING DESIGN COMPETITION RULES AND GUIDELINES
Prior to the availability of digital mediums and social media platforms, many English Language teachers use non-digital teaching-learning resources like puppets, globes, flash cards, wall displays, charts, models and pictures in their classrooms. These learning resources are used by teachers to help learners understand key concepts with ease.
The main aim of this competition is to enable teacher trainees to develop engaging non-digital language activities that can be used in an ESL classroom.
RULES AND GUIDELINES
Non-digital language activity:
Design and present a 15 minute language activity utilising only non-digital teaching learning resources. Record your teaching activity and submit the link through the entry form below. Selection for the finals is based on the video recording.
Align with curriculum:
The language activity that you create must align with the overall primary school curriculum or syllabus. The activity should support the content and learning objectives covered in the curriculum.
Learning standard:
The activity should support the content and learning standards identified.
Accessibility:
Design activities that are accessible to learners with diverse abilities, learning styles and learning needs.
Language focus:
Clearly state the language skills that will be the focus of your activity. Specify whether it will target listening, speaking, writing, reading or a combination of these skills.

Design language activities that are original. Consider learners’ different learning styles, backgrounds and abilities when designing these activities.
