DIGITAL STORYTELLING COMPETITION RULES AND GUIDELINES

INTRODUCTION

Digital storytelling is a story or ideas presented using computer-based tools. 

Digital stories for this competition involves the creation of a video through the combination of text, narration, visuals, audio and other multimedia resources to enhance the presentation of a story.

This competition intends to create awareness among ESL students on the creative potential of storytelling through multimedia. 

AIMS

To give participants the opportunity to explore their creativity through digital storytelling.

To promote the usage of the English Language the development of oral communication skills among participants.

To promote the use of multimedia when presenting story ideas in the English language.

ELIGIBILITY

This competition is open to students of all IPGKs, local and international universities.

COMPETITION RULES

This is an individual entry competition.

The duration of the storytelling is 3-4 minutes. No marks will be awarded for presentations that exceed 4 minutes.

The multimedia resources used should be original, interesting, captivating and creative, and serves its purpose in giving impact to the story telling.

The story should only use the English language as the medium of communication and any usage of other languages is not acceptable. 

Any theme is acceptable but the story must not touch on sensitive issues such as race, religion, stereotyping and politics.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Upload the video to YouTube to generate a link. Submit the link via the entry form provided below.

JUDGING

The judging panel’s decision is final and no appeals will be considered. 

Selection criteria will be based the following aspects:

1. Story development / Content 25%

2. Digital technology tools 25%

3. Language use 25%

4. Originality 25%

TOTAL 100%

PRIZES

The winners will be announced via the website on Wednesday 30 August 2023.  

Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners.

The prize giving ceremony will be held on Friday, 15 September 2023. 

If you are unable to attend the ceremony, please inform us by Wednesday 13 September. 

We will send the prizes via post to you.

CERTIFICATES

• All participants will receive a certificate of participation to be sent to the email address indicated in the competitions entry form.

COMPETITION DURATION

13 July – 14 August 2023

Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances.
