In an effort to foster global awareness and promote unity, E. Zobel Foundation, Inc. Senior High School Department held a grand celebration of the United Nations with the theme: “Cultures Around the Globe: A Journey Through Diversity''. This is an initiated program of the Humanities and Social Sciences Club which aimed to promote equality, freedom, and justice for all.
It was hosted by Mr. Joe Marie Aquino, a Grade 12 HUMSS student, and a prayer was led by Ms. Angeline Castromero. Mr. Danvir Breto takes the lead in opening remarks for the United Nations exhibit. To finally open the exhibit, the ribbon cutting was held with the help of our principal, Dr. Henry Leen Magahis, our vice principal, Mr. Ronaldo Godoy, and our HUMMS coordinators, Mr. Mark Joseph Delos Reyes and Mr. Denver Breto.
As part of the celebration, the HUMSS strand students organized an exhibit which spanned across various classrooms featuring a dazzling array of artwork, informative displays, cultural performances, and special cuisine representing different countries and cultures from around the world. Each classroom was transformed into a mini cultural hub, offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditions, customs, and histories of different nations.
The countries that they represent that are part of the United Nations are Thailand, India, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and China. Thailand shows the famous cuisine and the temple with Buddha; there are also many pictures that show how rich the culture of Thailand is. In India, it shows the famous cuisines and the face paint that they offer to visitors. Korea presents famous foods and photo cards of famous K-pop idols. The Philippines shows the bahay kubo, the saints or santo, and the foods that every Filipino loves to eat, especially street foods. China with its famous cuisine and also the description of how rich the country is. Every student who wants to tour around gets a ticket to visit all the countries and enjoy the exhibits.
As to the end of the exhibit, Mr. Aldrin Natividad takes the lead for the closing remarks. To be fair, all the HUMMS sections get a certificate for their participation in the exhibit. As everyone put in efforts, there are also winners for the exhibit, and the winners are 3rd placer Thailand, 2nd placer Philippines, and the winner is Japan.
The United Nations School Celebration Exhibit was a resounding success as it left a lasting impact on the students to be committed in building a better future for all.
