MAE 156B: Senior Design Project
The focus of the overall project is to design and implement a pump that connects to a tracheal stent that requires oscillating pressure to stimulate stem cell growth. The current implementation is a syringe connected to the tubing which is carefully operated by a human to meet pressure and frequency requirements. Our task is to improve this with a system that’s automatic, transportable, and requires minimal human supervision. Ultimately the desired workflow is such that there’s no need for the constant supervision of a healthcare worker, and the ability to identify the best pressure and frequency for promoting stem cell growth in the trachea.
