MAE 156B: Senior Design Project (Spring 2024)
At University of California, San Diego’s PISCES Laboratory, researchers are pioneering the next wave of fusion technology with their enhanced PISCES-RF plasma device. This project focuses on developing a sophisticated radio frequency (RF) shield designed to protect critical experiments from electromagnetic interference that is created by this PISCES-RF plasma device. By integrating advanced materials like aluminum and copper, and optimizing the shield's design through innovative 3D printing and conductive coatings, the team is not only safeguarding scientific integrity but also setting new standards in the field of plasma-material interactions. This cutting-edge work not only propels fusion technology forward but also has profound implications for our understanding of human’s society as a whole.
