The objective of the clock project was to learn about simple physics concepts and manufacturing using different machines, CAD, and simulations. Some challenges I faced was that my design was not symmetrical, so I had to figure out where to put the bolts so that it became balanced. I also took some time figuring out how to get a good simulation, because the simulation platform, WM2D, was a bit hard to use at first.
I learned a lot about how to use different machines, such as the laser cutter and the drill press. I also learned how to use CAD and simulations to design and test things. The design of my pendulum turned out good, and none of the more fragile parts broke off. The period turned out to be 0.72 seconds of average, which was extremely close to the period I got from WM2D.
