What To Expect:

7 days of paddling catering to all skills levels class II to IV. Paddling cloud and rain forest rivers in the Quijos and Napo Valley. These two different drainages offer many different styles of whitewater. Whether you enjoy steep boulder gardens or miles of wave trains you will have the time of your paddling life as you meander through lush jungles literally screaming with wild life. Experience the wonderful culture of Ecuador and it’s friendly people. At Ecuador Kayak with Endless Adventure International we are focused on providing a memorable experience both on and off water. The two different areas explored offer two entirely different climates. The Napo Valley promises tropical weather and warm rivers while the Quijos Valley host’s temperate days and cooler nights with glacier fed rivers.

Tena and The Napo Valley - The Headwaters of the Amazon

Day 1: The Arrival

Arrive at the Quito Airport to be greeted by one of the smiling EAI representatives. A vehicle will also be waiting to load gear and luggage to be brought to your hotel. Guests will be left with nothing to carry but a small daypack, ideal for exploration and comfort.

Day 2: Getting’ wet.

Start you day with a delicious breakfast. After loading our kayaks and gear we begin our journey to kayaking paradise, The Quijos Valley. After a short drive to San Francisco de Borja we will outfit our modern kayaks to insure a comfortable trip. We will then embark on a moderate paddle down a section of the Quijos River to work out the rust and get a taste of what is to come. We will then retire to a feast of local cuisine and trade river tales over some brews.

Day 3: Travel to Tena

After a hearty breakfast and specialty coffee our group will head to Tena, (Ecuador’s whitewater capital) for a mind-blowing trip down one of Tena’s many Rivers. Return to dinner and a well earned good nights sleep at Los Yutzos.

Day 4: Tena Day 2

Breakfast including fruit smoothies a meal fit for champions and our famous coffee then off to another river adventure. Retire to a relaxing night of hammock swinging or working on your salsa moves at the local paddlers bar with a view of the Tena River.

Day 5: Tena Day 3

Time to step up the paddling and experience the magic of Ecuadorian whitewater once again on the Tena River, be prepared to get immersed into Ecuadorian lifestyle as the banks of the Tena come to life with local communities celebrating tropical living. After a morning run we will embark on an evening jungle tour on the banks of the Napo River a source of the Amazon. Experience animals you have never seen, ancient medicinal plants, and the way of life of the indigenous people. Get a good night sleep for tomorrow we head to the Quijos valley or step it up a notch in the Tena area.

Day 6: Back to Borja. OR a Final day in Tena.

Depending on the group and their comfort level we will either make the call to paddle another day in Tena or head to Borja.

Say farewell to the wonderful Napo Valley and get ready for one of the most exciting rivers on the planet; The Quijos. With over 80 kilometers of stunning whitewater and lush jungle scenery, the Quijos is a paddlers dream. Our Cabañas Tres Rios Lodge will ensure you feel welcome and comfortable while in Borja. We also have a chance to change up our kayaks or improve our outfitting at our boathouse.

Day 7: The Daytripper

Paddle one of the many Quijos Valley Rivers followed by a tour to nearby Baeza for some cuisine and sight seeing.

Day 8: The Big Day

A day paddle on one or more of the continuous sections of the Quijos. Lunch will be provided on river with available snacks as well. Be prepared for a long day on the water and a soothing hot tub to finish the trip and recharge for your next adventure.

Day 9: Return to Quito

Some may need to sleep in after an action packed previous day so there is an option for a morning paddle for the hardcore. The remainder of the day we will enjoy sight seeing and souvenir shopping at the Mercado Central. Either enjoy your flight to your next destination or plan for another night on the town to celebrate our amazing trip.
