This study focuses on the parent-teacher relationships from the parent’s viewpoint to get their perspective on what they believe to be considered beneficial in establishing a meaningful relationship with a teacher. The researcher starts off with a literature review that goes over three major themes that contribute to relationships between parents and teachers: how to form effective relationships between parents and teachers, the benefits that arise when effective parent-teacher relationships are established, and the factors that could affect a parent-teacher relationship such as disabilities or low economic status. The researcher then constructs an original study by using the qualitative research method, phenomenology. A phenomenological study helps the researcher hear participants shared, lived experiences that happen within a particular group of people. The researchers create a survey to arrive at the conclusion that parents do have preferences of what they want to see when having an effective relationship with a teacher. The researcher’s goal in conducting this research is to arrive at a conclusion of the phenomenon that is being studied.
