The study explores barriers to educating children with disabilities in public schools. The perspective of educators who left public school systems to work at educational centers that specialized in the needs of students with disabilities is compared to literature in the field. The participants were interviewed and asked for their concerns and opinions about what public schools can do to best support student needs. It is discovered that the major concern of both researchers and participants in the study is the lack of support and resources available to teachers.

My work is dedicated to my Nunnie, the late Ann LaSelva, whose passion and drive for helping others was passed onto me.
My thesis is also dedicated to a life-long friend Miss Madison McCoomb, a young woman with Autism, who forever changed my life and showed me first hand how important inclusion is for those with disabilities.
