Making a sports team, at any level, is very difficult. A person has to commit a lot of time, energy, and sacrifice. But what about making a baseball team?
Baseball, one of our country’s most popular sports, is considered one of the hardest sports to play because hitting a baseball is hard to do, especially when it’s coming at you very fast and from different angles.
Some young athletes might think that making a baseball team is easy, but in reality it is not. Playing baseball [well] takes energy and a lot of focus and effort, but making a baseball team has a lot of challenges and can be very difficult; especially when it comes to your first year while you are still learning the basics of the game. Making a baseball team isn’t just about your skill or talent either; there are a lot of other things that are important. Having a positive attitude helps a lot, along with getting along with your teammates; because they will be there for you when you struggle, and you will at times. You also need to be able to take coaching advice to improve as a player. In the end, it also comes down to the amount of hours you dedicate to yourself to get better. My older brother, Sebastian, is on the RHS Varsity Baseball team, so I’ve heard from him how much work goes into being a good baseball player.
If you are an RHS student looking to try out for our baseball team next year, consider some of the advice I have shared. Remember, baseball is a very hard sport to play, but if you work hard, you can be good at it just like anything else. You need to have a positive attitude, allow yourself to be coached by people who have played the sport longer than you, and you need to make time everyday to get better.
Good luck, and I hope you make the team if you decide to try out!
