On October 15th, Nintendo Direct announced that Animal Crossing: New Horizons, or ACNH for short, last free major update would be released on November 4th, 2021 at 6 pm PST. Although the release date has now come and gone, it sent shockwaves throughout the gaming community, especially amongst its 32 million-plus users. The game’s last significant update was so jam-packed, fans are now wondering, what makes this new update so appealing?
ACNH's 2.0 update has a record-breaking amount of new items and features in it, including over 9000+ new items, gameplay features users have been begging for, and a surprisingly vast downloadable content site (DLC). With such an extensive update, no one person could explain it all, but this is where I come in. What follows are a few of the most adored and helpful features the update has to offer.
Storing DIYs
The more hours you sink into ACNH, the more you start to realize the pain that is DIYs. You can collect DIYS multiple different ways, from washed-up recipes in bottles to your very own villagers. After recipes are learned, you cannot relearn them again, causing DIY corpses to litter all over your island. Nevertheless, the pain has ended as you can now store already learned DIYs into your home storage.
Cooking!
Food has been added that you can learn to cook! No longer must you survive on fruit but on instant noodles and iced coffee! Not only that but, you can grow your very own produce like carrots and potatoes on your island.
Gyroids
Everyone's favorite musical buddies have returned from previous games! No longer must you listen to only K.K Sliders' voice but our favorite little buddies too. Although, unlike prior games in the franchise, it isn't just as easy to dig out a gyroid and be done. Now you must find parts to plant and grow!
Nooklink New Features
The Nooklink, which you can access through the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app, has new features. Not only can you hear about the latest events on your island through the newspaper app, but you can track your island's turnip prices, get island tips, and a daily login reward system. Once a day, by logging in, you can also earn what are called Nook Points, which can be redeemed twice a day for exclusive items. After purchasing items, they will be sent to your mailbox in-game via the Internet.
The Brewster Cafe
A beloved face is back! Brewster, everyone's favorite barista, returns from previous games. Now you can check out the museum's newest addition, The Roost. From time to time, random characters will pop in. Whether it be your island's villagers or even the terrifying Resetti, anyone really will pop in for a coffee. You can also invite characters using Animal Crossing amiibo cards. Now you can sit down and enjoy a nice cup of coffee or water with friends and villagers, maybe even buy your mom a nice cup of coffee.
Exciting Furniture
Ever wanted to have the gaming desk of your dreams or maybe even push your friends in a stroller? Well, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons' new update, you can! With over 9000+ new furnishings, you can fully deck out your island. Of course, with so many new items, I could not possibly name them all, but here are some fan favorites: portable ABDs, gazebos, castle walls/towers, gaming desks, gaming chairs, ruined sets for your ancient greek desires, storage sheds to access your houses' storage from anywhere on your island, pillars, counters, walls and everyone's favorite, the froggy chair!
With so many new exciting things ranging from more storage to new customizable features, Animal Crossing: New Horizons free final update was surely one the ACNH fandom adored. Besides numerous hours of new gameplay, players are sure to never get bored.
