The color maroon is often associated with qualities like gentleness, ambition, and inspiration. It is a kind and inviting color while also being strong in meaning and appearance. This color is the perfect one to use to describe Alice Sar. Alice, who also serves as student body president for the class of 2025, is not only one who excels in academics, but in people’s hearts and memories as well.
Alice Sar, who uses any pronouns, has a heart of gold. She frequently goes out of her way to help peers, whether with schoolwork or their mental health. Alice regularly enjoys volunteering for and associating herself with groups like Key Club and Mental Health Awareness for Minorities, or MHAM for short. She frequently advocates for mental health amongst her peers, even going so far as to help those less privileged find local therapists online and producing/gathering material to educate others on how to understand and manage their own mental health challenges. Alice mentions, “I want to encourage others to enjoy life a little bit more. Take joy in the little things that make life that much more [pleasant] and to not dwell on negativity for too long.”
Aside from volunteering, Alice has numerous interests. Her hobbies include baking, listening to music, singing, and playing her ukulele and guitar. Alice also relishes a good crepe cake, especially if she is the one who made it. And as strange as it sounds, Alice also enjoys people-watching, commenting that it is nice to observe humanity sometimes, and it fills her heart with joy when they see acts of kindness out in public.
As a fully-engaged freshman student, Alice has a very busy zero to sixth-period schedule. She’s currently enrolled in IM2, Accelerated Biology, Accelerated English, Acappella Choir, Leadership, PE, and Chinese 3P all while maintaining solid grades in each class. It is a lot of work, but the opportunities Alice has learned through ASB are invaluable. The people she’s got to meet and work with have also led to great friendships, and she appreciates everyone in ASB for everything they do. In the future, Alice also plans to run for class president both next year and the year after that, then, as an ultimate sign of leadership, plans on running for Big ASB president during her senior year.
For her first year at Rosemead High School, Alice Sar is a star that shines brightly—having so much on her plate yet always being there for others. Freshman Jennifer Feng, a good friend of Alice’s, comments, “They [Alice] are a very determined person and always ready to jump in to help out in any way. They are willing to do most things for anyone out of kindness, even if it affects them. I think caring about others is one of their top priorities, and making sure people feel loved is a big thing. They are overall a great person to talk with when you need someone, and they are an inspiration to do better in the world as they contribute their efforts into so many things.”
