The love people have for their pets is unlike any other—it's a bond built on trust, companionship, and unconditional affection. Whether it's a dog, cat, or any other animal, pets become part of the family, offering comfort and joy in ways that words can barely describe. This month, we asked the students of Rosemead High School to describe the love they have for their pets. Here’s what they had to say:
Ben Ho, 12th Grade (Dog):
"Dude, I love my dog. I used to have two dogs, but the first one passed away due to a stomach issue. She pretty much raised my second dog, a K-9 named Keno. My dog is very affectionate, and I just love her so much."
Jesse Romero, 12th Grade (Dog):
"I've always begged my parents to give me a baby brother. They always laughed and didn't start regretting it until recently. My dream sort of came true when I was handed the opportunity to take a husky-pug mix home. He brought joy into my life. His daily walks at night allowed me to embrace my surroundings and learn to love myself. I never had a tight bond with my family, so when he came along, I finally felt how it was to give and receive love. Hopefully, this little guy is good practice for when I have a child."
Mike Perez, 12th Grade (Four Dogs!):
"I have so much love for my pets because I’ve had them since they were little pups. I feed them, let them run around in my yard, and even dress them in little sweaters when the cold comes along. I hug my dogs all the time because they are like my own children."
Ashley Duke, 10th Grade (Cat):
"I love Loki like I’d love a little freak that lives in my house. He’s ugly and makes me mad sometimes, but he loves me unconditionally (sort of) and comforts me when I’m sad."
Emily Tran, 11th Grade (Rabbit):
"My rabbit, Mochi, is the softest little thing ever. He may be tiny, but he has a big personality. He follows me around the house and always finds a way to make me laugh. I never thought I could love a rabbit this much."
Nathan Kim, 9th Grade (Parrot):
"My parrot, Seed, is basically my alarm clock and my best friend. He greets me in the morning with his screeching and always makes sure I know he’s there. His little chirps brighten up my day, and I can’t imagine life without him."
From these responses, it’s clear that pets play a vital role in the lives of their owners. They’re not just animals—they’re family, emotional support systems, and sources of immense happiness. Whether it's a single pet or a pack of four, the love shared between humans and their furry (or feathery) friends is something truly special.
So, what about you? How would you describe the love you have for your pet?
