In class we will be focusing on developing the children's fine motor skills and pre writing activities daily. All of the lessons and skills learned are on going.

Kids need to use fine motor skills to do many school-related tasks. These include:

- Holding a pencil, drawing pictures, coloring and writing own name neatly, labeling
- Stacking blocks and stringing beads, playing construction toys
- Using scissors and other tools
- Self - care like dressing independently, tying shoelaces, zips, buttons,belts

Our children are early readers and they can see prints everywhere that they can read. It is called Environmental print. It is the print of everyday life. It's the name given to the print that appears in signs, labels, and logos. Street signs, candy wrappers, labels on peanut butter and the M for McDonald's are other examples of environmental print. Let them read prints everywhere they go!

In Math, number concepts including ten frames and simple problem solving will be ongoing. For the coming weeks, we will focus on mastering teen numbers, number values up tp 20, 3D shapes we see everywhere, review primary and secondary colors, ordinal numbers, positional words,and extended patterns, identifying numbers before, after and in between. Math concepts will be taught through hands - on activities and will be ongoing all throughout the school year.

My name is Emma Hudson and I am the class teacher of KG2 Swans along with my wonderful co-teacher, Ms Leah Acleo.

A little bit about me: I am from Manchester, England but I have lived in the Middle East my whole life. First in Kuwait and now Qatar. I have been in Qatar for 24 years. This is my 13th year teaching and my 8th year here at EMS.

- Kindly be informed that all information and class photographs will be put up on to the Google Site.
- Please send extra clothes labelled with your child's name. These are for any accidents that may happen and will be kept inside their bags in case they are needed throughout the year.
- Please label all items your child brings to school with their name.
- For your child's snack, please send healthy small snacks such as fresh fruits, sandwiches (Finger food). Please do not send in sweets, chips, fried foods such as nuggets and french fries, candy bars or sodas.
- Our school is a NUT FREE school and we have a NO NUT policy - NO nuts, NO peanut butter sandwiches, NO nutella sandwiches or biscuits and NO food containing nuts please.
This is extremely important. Any food found containing nuts will be sent home, unconsumed.

- Please send enough water to last your child throughout the day as they will not be able to refill their water at school.
