The RVMES have never been a band to sit neatly in a single genre box, and with their brand new album Boundary Issues, they prove that rule truer than ever. Out now via AAA Records, the eleven track release captures the restless energy of three years on the road, each song shaped by the stages, crowds, and moments that gave it life before it hit the studio.
While many bands polish their sound for recording, The RVMES lean into the chaos of their influences, crafting a record that feels urgent and alive. Surf rock grooves trace back to Logan Fox’s Tauranga roots, Ronaldo Lima injects Brazilian rhythm into the basslines, Edwin Judd’s vocals bring a soulful sheen, and Richard Moore’s guitar work burns with a fiery edge. The result is a sound that does not compromise on individuality, with each track becoming a meeting point of cultures, memories, and bold ideas.
Recorded with Casey and John Messent at Wardrobe Studios, mixed by TeMatera Smith, and mastered by Luke Finlay, Boundary Issues lands as both a culmination of the band’s journey so far and a launchpad into something even bigger. The signing with AAA Records places The RVMES alongside some of Aotearoa’s most innovative acts, cementing their place as a group unwilling to play it safe.
To celebrate the release, The RVMES are hitting the road for a nine date Boundary Issues Tour. Kicking off September 6 at Auckland’s Big Fan with Velveteen Shakes and Mojo Smooth, the run promises sweaty, high energy shows that turn casual listeners into lifelong fans. With their trademark genre bending spirit, The RVMES are not just putting out another album, they are rewriting what it means to sound like themselves.
