THE PRISM CHALLENGE

REIMAGINING TEACHING FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Does your district have what it takes to reimagine teaching from the inside out?

We will announce selected schools the week of April 14.

Through a funded and supported, teacher-led co-design process, educator teams with expanded flexibilities will collaborate with school and district leaders to envision, design, and implement new approaches to their work.

Reimagined teacher roles will prioritize high-quality instructional materials, aligned professional learning, and the cultivation of strong, affirming relationships with students. And schools will codify team flexibilities in formal arrangements that ensure teacher-leadership sustains through district-level transitions.

The Challenge

Reimagining teacher roles is essential to meeting the evolving challenges of modern education. The old “one teacher, one classroom” model no longer meets the diverse needs of students or adequately supports teachers’ well-being.

We must shift our perspective and see teacher roles through a new prism—reflecting the collective assets, knowledge, and experience within our educators.

When teachers have the power to co-design their roles, it sparks innovation, promotes equity, and fosters a deep sense of ownership—vital to improving retention and satisfaction. By codifying teacher-led decision-making, we can sustainably embed these new structures in district, school, and collective bargaining policy.
