The El Monte City School District is grateful for our outstanding staff, supportive community, and the Board of Education for the continued support of our students and schools. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the way we work and live and especially how our children learn.
The El Monte City School District is grateful for our outstanding staff, supportive community, and the Board of Education for the continued support of our students and schools. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the way we work and live and especially how our children learn.
In order to reopen schools, EMCSD, along with every school district in Los Angeles County, must adhere to the Los Angeles County Public Health Department (LACPHD) guidance for reopening schools. At this time, we remain optimistic the trajectory of the coronavirus curve will once again flatten, and we will be able to open schools in a way that protects the health and safety of our students and staff.

For the past two months, EMCSD’s Re-Opening Task Force has been meeting regularly to plan for the best and safest reopening for our students and staff. This taskforce has representation from our teachers, our classified, our admin team, our operations & instruction teams, parents, and community partners. With Governor Newsom’s guidelines for schools, the task force had to pivot from an in-person model to a distance learning model. The determination, flexibility and perseverance of this task force is reflected in our Distance Learning Plan.
