Maurice Eisenberg (1900-1972) was a child prodigy and world renowned cellist who taught at several prestigious schools, including Julliard. The Flat Hat remembered this performance with "Delighting a large audience of faculty members, students and residents of Williamsburg, Maurice Eisenberg gave perhaps one of the finest cello performances ever heard in Phi Beta Kappa Hall....Eisenberg played as if he loved every minute of the music [Bach], and brought every possible beauty out of it for the audience, who showed their appreciation by much applause, and requests for several encores."
