The 1944 U.S. election was held between Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt and Republican Thomas E. Dewey with Roosevelt winning by overwhelming majority in the Electoral College with 432 votes to Dewey's 99. Roosevelt also won the popular vote by 3.6 million votes. Despite the strong victory, it was Roosevelt's closest election of each of his four terms.
