The final animation of my modeled wooden chest, rotating on a turntable and showing both textured and wired views.
A playblast for texture and wire-view were separately made and edited together with a free program called Shotcut.
I got the reference images from a listing on Ebay. I find that product listings have good views of the object on all sides, so it made it easier to model this chest.
Still shots of my model for comparison (texture-view and wire-view):
As you can see, the teeth are a mess. I just took a bunch of pyramid polygons and shaped and rotated them individually for the bottom. Then copied all the bottom teeth, pasted them, rotated and flipped them and positioned them on the top lip of the chest.
The really dark spots are the coins.
The bottom left image is the chest without lighting and shadows.
Additional Textures and Models:
I wanted to get more practice with backgrounds, lighting and animation for this project, so I made use of some additional textures and models. I put the links to the websites they're on as hyperlinks on the titles.
I went a head and downloaded a free coin model from Free3d.com. It looked nice, and it was easy to copy and paste a bunch of them on the top layer of the chest to make it look full of coins.
I found this texture on google. I wanted something a bit stylized/cartoony to match the low-poly look of my chest.
Also found on google, I wanted a cobblestone look for the turntable and what can be seen of the floor. Together both the walls and floor make the scene look like a dungeon.
I wanted a kind of nasty and slightly bloody look to the teeth of my box. I couldn't find one that I liked, so I made a simple one myself quickly with an art program I regularly use (FireAlpaca)
Again, found on google. I went through a few realistic looking grains of wood texture, but decided that this one looked the best. It was a bit stylized looking, but also recognizable and looked good.
