ABSTRACT
In March, 2020, when most William & Mary students were having fun during spring break, they could hardly expect the school’s hasty decision of closing the campus after the break. Due to the massive outburst of COVID-19, universities in the USA started to operate remotely and have class through online meetings. American students were forced to return home for the sake of personal safety. However, international students were left with two choices-to stay or leave the USA. William & Mary community are diversified, and a considerable number of Chinese students live and attend school in Williamsburg. This PowerPoint involves first-hand reaction that Chinese students made towards William & Mary decision of closing campus. After May 25th, the Chinese government stopped accepting most international flights. There were not enough medical workers, and there was a bigger chance for international students to be exposed to the virus. In this PowerPoint, I briefly research on the reasons why Chinese students chose to stay or not and what concerns they had over the current situation. I show some pictures that I took along my trip from the USA to China. This PowerPoint has some limitations. Since other Chinese students and I made most interaction online, a lot of conversation is hard to be reproduced. Also, although most content in this PowerPoint is about subjective feelings, I don’t want to express too much negative energy. I hope I record some facts that happened during the time of COVID-19 in Williamsburg.
