Making additional resources and activities available to students
Greg Conradi Smith’s textbook on cellular biophysics, Cellular Biophysics and Modeling, takes on many difficult topics, and there are lots of additional resources and activities he would like to be made available for not just his students, but to any students who use this textbook, whether at William & Mary, some other institution, or just learning on their own.
While there are many solutions that you might use to make these materials available, there are always specific considerations for individual applications. Some of the issues Greg needed to consider when deciding what application to use were:

Greg feels that the ease of access and flexibility of WordPress is a real benefit to any student who needs additional help while using his textbook to learn this topic.
One of the unforeseen benefits of his WordPress site is that it works well in a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) context. By putting content up in a variety of ways, he gives students the opportunity to access less time-intensive resources like videos during high-stress times in the semester, and access a fuller range of materials when they are less pressed for time.
