Hello! Talent English Series 2023: International Scholars Share Insights on Sustainability and SDGs
In 2023, the College of Management at National Chung Hsing University hosted the "Hello! Talent English Series," inviting six international scholars to deliver ten lectures on various topics related to sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative aimed to promote international mobility, bilingualism, and interdisciplinary education, offering students valuable opportunities to engage with experts from around the world.
The series kicked off on October, 2023, with Dr. Rogier Busser, Dean of Hotelschool The Hague, who provided European insights into sustainability. Dr. Busser has been a long-time lecturer at NCHU, and his expertise continues to benefit both faculty and students.
Dr. Weerapon Thongma, President of Maejo University, delivered talks on Green Energy, Smart Farming Practices, and how universities can implement SDGs. His perspective from ASEAN countries added a rich and diverse outlook on these pressing global issues.
Dr. Masayuki Furusawa, Professor at Kindai University, explored SDGs in multinational enterprises, focusing on the headquarters-subsidiary relationship. His research, based on a survey of Japanese and Western multinational enterprises, provided an in-depth look into sustainability from a corporate perspective.
The series continued in the first week of November, when a delegation from PBIC, Thammasat University, led by Dean Peter Ractham, visited NCHU. They held four English talks, featuring Dr. Shweta Sinha's research on empowering indigenous women in Doi Tung through education and financial independence. Dr. Usanee Lertrattananon discussed Thailand's policy to attract retired Chinese nationals, and Dr. Ornthicha Duangratana highlighted Thailand's responses to asylum seekers. It was a productive day, offering insights into how Thailand addresses sustainability through diverse approaches.
The "Hello! Talent English Series" has provided a platform for students and faculty to broaden their understanding of sustainability and global development through diverse cultural and academic perspectives.
