The New Southbound University-NCHU Symposium on Academic and Campus Cultural Exchange (NSUS) is organized by the College of Science of National Chung Hsing University (NCHU). NCHU, located in Taichung city, is the most historic university in Taiwan and the most prestigious academic research center in central Taiwan. It was founded in 1919 on the Roosevelt Road Campus of National Taiwan University, and was then moved to its present location in 1943. With a total of nearly 16,000 students and 1000 faculty members, NCHU is one of the top universities in Asia. The university is renowned for its excellent programs in Agricultural Science, Veterinary Medicine, Life Science, Biotechnology, and Fundamental Science. Focusing on becoming a comprehensive research university, NCHU is dedicated to cutting-edge research in science and technology. The main campus comprises eleven colleges and one school, including the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the College of Science, the College of Engineering, the College of Life Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Management, the College of Law and Politics, the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Medicine, the Academy of Circular Economy, and the School of Innovation and Industry Liaison.
The purpose of NSUS is to promote the collaboration between the College of Science of NCHU in Taiwan and top universities in New Southbound countries, including Vietnam, India and Indonesia, by establishing bilateral alliances for cooperative projects in key research fields. The alliance will facilitate regular exchange and study programs for international students in Taiwan. Short-term classes will also be conducted to attract more international students and offer further internship opportunities in Taiwanese enterprises. The symposium mainly covers Three fields: Chemistry, Mathematics & AI and Physics. Scholars participating in the event will give professional lectures and conduct academic exchanges with teachers and students after the meeting. It is hoped that all attending researchers and students will have a fantastic opportunity to discuss interdisciplinary research in the fields of science and technology. We expect all participating institutions to continue deepening mutual exchanges and cooperation, establishing closer academic ties between Taiwan and New Southbound countries. This will also help Taiwanese teachers and students better understand the culture of Association of Southeast Asian nations and support the implementation of the New Southbound Policy for Taiwan’s future economic development.
