Students who are minoring in music music must complete four (4) quarters of minor lessons as part of their music requirements and must concurrently enroll in General Recital (MUAP 100) and attend Recital Hour, recitals, and concerts. Students who plan to minor in music are encouraged to speak with the professor for their principle instrument or area coordinator listed below to discuss private lessons and to schedule an audition.
Private lessons may be available to non-music students if a studio is not filled to capacity and a faculty member agrees to take on an additional student. Those who are accepted into a studio must read music and usually have several years of previous experience on an instrument before being accepted for private study at Louisiana Tech. It is strongly recommended that students who wish to take piano, guitar, or voice lessons, but have no prior experience register for Beginning piano, Beginning guitar, or Concert Choir before seeking out private lessons. Speak with an Area Coordinator listed below if you have any questions.
