University Concert Choir (No Audition Required)
The University Concert Choir is open to all Louisiana Tech students and performs a wide range of choral literature.
No Audition Required! Please register for MUEN 231-001 (Winter 2024 Call No.: 21678)
This choir rehearses each Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00-1:50pm in HCPA 112 (Choir Room).
Students may be eligible for an out-of-state fee waiver. See below for more details.
Chamber Singers - 2023/2024 Audition Information
ENSEMBLE INFORMATION
This ensemble meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:30-1:45pm in HCPA 112 (Choir Room). It is Louisiana Tech University's premier vocal ensemble and requires an audition to participate; however, all Louisiana Tech students are welcome to audition regardless of major.
AUDITION INFORMATION
Auditions for Chamber Singers are required yearly for ALL NEW and RETURNING students. You will only be given permission to enroll once you have successfully auditioned and been offered a slot in the choir.

Your audition will consist of the following components:
1. Vocalization - to assess range, quality and adaptability.
2. Tonal Memory - hearing short melodies played on the piano and singing them back
3. Sight-singing - you will be given an 8-measure melodic and rhythmic example
§ You may use Solfège, numbers, neutral syllables (ex. la, la, la), note names, or whatever you are most comfortable using.

SERVICE AWARD INFORMATION
Students who participate in this ensemble will be awarded a service award for each quarter they participate; the amount offered will be tiered based on the number of years a student participates:
FIRST YEAR in Chamber Singers: $150.00 per quarter
SECOND YEAR in Chamber Singers: $175.00 per quarter
3rd and 4th YEARS in Chamber Singers: $200.00 per quarter
Service awards may be available for choir members who participate for more than 4 years, depending on availability of funds and student's successful progress toward degree. Students to whom this applies should speak with the Director of Choral Activities early in the Spring of their 4th year for consideration.
NOTE TO OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTS: Out-of-state students are eligible for a Performing Arts Out-of-State Fee Waiver to offset any out-of-state fees they are charged to enroll in School of Music ensembles. Students are responsible for filling out any needed paperwork to receive this scholarship. Contact the Director of Choral Activities for more information: ntrahan@latech.edu.
