I am an astrobiologist, electrochemist, and material scientist. My primary interest is to understand the relevance between artificial and natural (geological and biological) systems, from the perspectives of material cycling, reaction mechanisms, molecular records, and evolutionary linkage. Such knowledge is crucial for understanding diverse geological systems as well as designing new materials and systems for green technology and environmental conservation for our Earth and beyond.
My recent research interest is understanding how life's building blocks, like amino acids, were formed, transformed, and preserved in different types of water/rock interaction environments.
Specifically, I am focusing on the effect of minerals on these different types of organic chemical reactions and clarifying the organic reaction network and the feedback to the surrounding environments.
Furthermore, we can use these organic distribution patterns as a signature to understand the chemical evolution of volatile elements and constrain the geochemical parameters that could be very important for the origin of life and the evolution of habitability.
