WELDING

Senior Opportunity:

We have a partnership with New Castle School of Trades (located in downtown East Liverpool) to offer our seniors in a career tech program the opportunity to participate in a welding program. East Liverpool covers the cost of the program for those students who complete the program.

Course Description:

- New Castle offers a two year program to earn a welding certificate
- This programs provides the students with the chance to complete the first year of the program
- East Liverpool City School District covers the cost of the tuition if the student(s) successfully completed the first year program

Courses Offered:

W150E SMAW & Cutting: This course consists of a study of cutting and welding equipment, their uses and safe operation. Students are given practical and theoretical instruction in the use of electric arc welders and oxy fuel equipment. Personal safety is a foremost study in this course, including clothing, eye, hearing and body protection, as well as protecting others.

W151E SMAW & Cutting Lab: Course work that features practice in applying stringers and weave beads on mild steel plates in the horizontal, vertical and overhead positions. Practice is on tee joints, corner joints, edge joints, square grooves and vee grooves both with and without backing. Overlay techniques are used and various electrodes introduced. Cutting, beveling and gouging metal will also be practiced.

Available Industry Certifications:

Seniors have the opportunity to attempt one welding certification. This is typically a 1G certification on ½ inch plate using 70/18 rod. 1 attempt is included in the course.
